Easter 2024 Testimony Invite

Jesus never promised us that our life would be free from pain and suffering, BUT He did promise to make a way through. In the Gospel of John, Jesus expressed this truth to his followers saying, “…Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33). Life is marked with challenges and pain, but Jesus has overcome; Jesus holds the victory! Amen. So, what does this have to do with you? We asked ourselves this question: Who at GrowPoint has walked through AND embraced a season of suffering which produced good fruit? As we settled into that question, Jesus highlighted your story to us, and we would love for your story to serve as an example to others during our Easter services this year!

This special service element will be similar to cardboard testimonies (if you’ve never seen that before you can watch this video for an example: https://youtu.be/FioNdZ1RBDU). Instead of holding a sign, we will be using projection to display the words that you put to your testimony.

Commitment:

  • Please send us your words for your testimony with the link below by Sunday, March 17.
  • Sunday, March 24, immediately after the 11am service, meet in the sanctuary for a quick run through of this portion of the service. We will also be filming a quick video of you smiling into a camera to be part of the projection element (you will not have to speak).
  • Attend both 9:00 & 11:00am services Easter Sunday

Coaching for Testimony before & after words

  • BRIEF is of the utmost importance. Please keep to 3-5 words max for each side of your sign. We need large words so it can be easily read from the audience.
  • BEFORE JESUS: What was the cause of the pain and the suffering you experienced? Examples: broken marriage, rejected by _______, addiction to _______, crippled by anxiety, overcome with grief. Add a descriptive word that helps to define the brokenness/suffering.
  • AFTER JESUS: What has Jesus Resurrected in your life?
  • Watch the video link provided above to help with ideas for wording and consolidating words.

If you are unable or uninterested in participating please let us know using the button above.

We can’t wait to give Heavenly Dad ALL the glory for what He has done in you this Easter! If you have any other questions, please email Sam Kamnikar at skamnikar@growpoint.church.

Roof Update & Year-End Giving

Hey GrowPoint!

“Tis the season to be thankful!”

Seeing how God moved through this church family throughout 2023 has caused an overflow of gratitude. The big project for us this year was the completion of the Flat Roof! The final cost of the replacement was $292,000. Remember when we launched fundraising efforts on February 12th, and started with $65,000 in the Roof Fund? Well, over these past 9 months, the GrowPoint family has sacrificially given $172,338.40! How amazing is that?! Praise God!!

This massive generosity came during a very difficult economy, and yet GrowPoint’s regular giving of Tithes and Offering have continued to be right on budget. Plus, the congregation had its largest support to-date of sponsoring kids and youth to 2023 Summer Camp resulting in numerous and significant impacts in the lives of our GrowKids, GrowStudents and their leaders. There was also a church mission trip to Nicaragua. Truly amazing! All of this along with our regular services, programs and events has happened in just the past 9 months!

In addition to our church families sacrificially giving to the Roof Fund, GrowPoint has received a few outside-of-the-church blessings. The following outside grants have been received to help pay off the Roof. We received three (3) grants so far totaling $30,000! Wow!

  • The Rowland Family Foundation granted $15,000.
  • Foursquare Atlantic District granted $10,000.
  • Foursquare International granted $5,000.

Our Roof Fund total currently stands at $267,338.40. Subtracting that from the total cost of $292,000, we’re left with only needing to raise $24,661.60 to pay off the roof in-full. Amazing! Praise God!! And there are still 5 weeks left in 2023.

Some of us have given lump sum offerings, and some are giving each week or each month. We give thanks for each giver! But perhaps your family is looking to do some year-end giving, or perhaps you know of someone looking for a place, a need and a project to give a year-end offering. Perhaps you know a family or a foundation that might be open to helping our church. Perhaps God is moving on your heart to step forward and be a part of this last push of giving to pay off the roof. Please prayerfully consider giving and being an advocate to others to give.

Because of the way the calendar lands this year, all in-person year-end giving (checks, cash, etc.) must be received by Sunday, December 24 to be processed as 2023, and then all online giving by Sunday, December 31, 2023.

We’re asking all of GrowPoint to be thankful and join together in praise for what God has done! God has been faithful and immeasurably kind to this church family. He is with us!

We are asking you to continue to pray and ask our Heavenly Dad, in Jesus’ name, to pour out more blessings on each of our members and attenders so that we together can give from out of these blessings the last $24,661.60 to pay off the roof… All for the glory of His name!

It certainly “Tis the season to be thankful!” God can be trusted!

We, the church staff and leadership, give God thanks for you, our church family. What a blessing it is to live life together as GrowPoint and serve Jesus!

Peace and Joy,

Pastors Josh & Sumer Smith
Pastor Todd & Tammi Rainey

Gifts Due This Sunday!

Hi everyone!

Thank you so much for picking up a tag (or multiple) and showing your love and generosity to the students at Stevan Dohanos this Christmas season!

Here are a couple of things for you to know:

All gifts are due back by this Sunday, Dec. 4th

  • The gifts you purchase from your tag should be placed in one bag with your tag in the bag or attached to it
  • If you have multiple tags, each tag and their corresponding gifts should be bagged separately
  • Please do not wrap your gifts

If you have lost or misplaced your tag

  • Please email me to let me know so I can get that information to you (gjenkins@growpoint.church)
  • Write the tag number on the outside of the bag you bring your gifts in

Praying for your student by name

  • Prayer is powerful and we have the privilege of praying for all of these students by name as we purchase and prepare gifts for them!

If you have any questions, let me know!

Gabby Jenkins

Thank you, Pastors.

Josh and Sumer don’t know about this so keep it a secret!

November is the month when Thanksgiving is highlighted everywhere, and we want to encourage Pastors Josh & Sumer Smith by finding ways of saying thank you to them. Kind and affirming words of love, encouragement and thanks can mean so much! And it’s good for our church to express our appreciation for our Pastors.

Proverbs 16:24 “Gracious and kind words are like delicious honeycomb for they release sweetness and refreshing into the soul and health and energy to the body.”

Can you encourage Pastors Josh & Sumer by sending them a handwritten thank you card? Maybe drop a note of encouragement to them in the GrowCard and Tithe & Offering Box on Sunday, or maybe email them an uplifting email?

We know it will mean so much to them, and it’s good for us to express our thankfulness to Heavenly Dad for giving us such great pastors. We hope you will join all of GrowPoint this November in gratefully thanking Josh & Sumer.

GrowStudents Summer Camp 2022

We continue to see God do amazing things in our youth ministry, and we are excited to share what is right around the corner! This evening, we announced to our students that this summer we are transitioning to something brand new for camp!

We have attended Camp McPherson for many years, and it holds a very special place in our hearts. Camp McPherson is currently owned by Foursquare, GrowPoint’s church association, but over the past few years the movement has started to sell their camp properties across the U.S. due to financial sustainability. This move to sell these properties has changed the “camp” experience to more of a hotel/conference style environment for many summer camps. While Camp McPherson has not been sold yet, we have chosen to get ahead of the curve and seek out other camp facilities.  This decision will enable GrowPoint to create a true “camp” experience for our students that aligns with our GrowPoint values and priorities.

This summer, GrowStudents will be traveling to “Miracle Camp” in Lawton, Michigan for 4 days and 3 nights from June 27th through the 30th for a true “camp” experience. Students will have an unforgettable experience hearing from God, building relationships and participating in activities like zip-lining, a high ropes course, a paintball course ($10 additional paid at camp), hiking and mountain biking trails, a water trampoline and blob, canoeing, kayaking, and spending time on Bankson Lake! Check out this video to see for yourself all the fun Miracle Camp has to offer!

Are there additional camp scholarships?

It is our desire that no student misses out on Summer Camp due to finances. Thanks to the generosity of our GrowPoint Family through the Envelope Challenge, every student who attends summer camp receives a $130 discount automatically on their camp registration. Please make sure to include any food allergies or dietary restrictions in your registration form so that we may communicate that with camp staff.

What are the sleeping arrangements?

Miracle camp offers two housing options. The first option is dorm style with rooms of 3 bunk beds sleeping 6 people. The second option is lodge style with rooms of 3 twin beds and 1 queen bed sleeping 4-5 people. Each room in both housing options has their own bathroom and shower. GrowPoint leadership will give students and leaders room assignments and notify them what size bedding they need. Students will need to bring their own bedding and towels.

What should my student do with medication?

We will have a camp nurse from GrowPoint who will collect all of our students’ medications. The nurse will keep and administer medications as prescribed. When filling out your students registration form, you should specify what condition and medication your child will be bringing. The medication should be in a ziplock bag labeled with their name, medication, and dosage.

Will my student need to bring additional cash?

Again, students will need to bring money for lunch on the way to camp. There will be a camp store available for students to purchase snacks, drinks, ice cream, and camp merchandise. If students choose to participate in paintball, there will be an additional $10 fee for ammunition each round they decide to play. These are optional but available to our students.

What about Summer Camp T-shirts?

T-shirts for GrowStudents Summer Camp 2022 are available as a $12 “add-on” to camp registration this year in order to keep the base price of camp as low as possible.

Will my student have access to their phone?

We collect every student’s phone before we leave for camp. This is something we have done for camp every year to help students unplug from outside distractions and fully enjoy their camp experience. In the past, students have testified to this helping them build connections with other students as well as being intentional about seeking the Lord. If there is an emergency and you would like to reach your child, leader contact information will be provided upon registering your child.
