Mark’s Gospel emphasizes actions and deeds. Jesus is on the go — healing, casting out demons, performing miracles, hurrying from place to place, and teaching. In Mark everything happens “immediately.” As soon as one episode ends, another begins. The rapid pace slows down when Jesus enters Jerusalem. Thereafter, events are marked by days, and His final day by hours.
We will take everything we gained and learned from 2021 and move forward into the new year! As a way to enter the new year, with new focus, we are embarking on a 21-day journey. We are going to increase our appetite for God’s presence during this time. Often we determine what we want to do, then we invite God to come along to bless our premeditated path. However, the purpose behind 21 days of prayer and fasting is to lean in and listen to God’s voice and direction for our year.
Freedom is one of Jesus’ greatest gifts to us. His freedom has two lanes: what He has freed us FROM, and what He has freed us FOR. The more we embrace it, the more we will find ourselves living in His purpose.
GrowPoint has been narrowly focused on jubilee this year! Historically, jubilee was a 50 year cycle where all debts were cancelled for all people! Can you imagine the reality of freedom people must have experienced! For GrowPoint, we are celebrating the 50th year of meeting in our current sanctuary! Throughout the last 50 years, God has brought thorough and widespread freedom to countless people through the power of Jesus’ name.
