Josh and Sumer Smith share a deep love for Jesus, people, and serving the local church together. Josh grew up in Rochester, Indiana, and Sumer is from Concord, North Carolina. Sumer knew at 13 years old that she was called to serve in ministry. Josh was pursuing a football scholarship when he responded to God’s call to ministry and decided to attend Life Pacific University, where he met Sumer in 1997. They graduated from Life Pacific in 2001 and began their first ministry assignment together at Hope Chapel in Cary, North Carolina, where they served for 10 years.

Josh later earned his Master’s in Strategic Leadership from Life Pacific University. Together, Josh and Sumer are parents to three amazing children. They co-pastor GrowPoint and have served as lead pastors there since 2015. In addition to pastoring GrowPoint, they feel called to pastor their community. One practical way they do this is through Josh’s role as a police chaplain for the City of Amherst.

Josh and Sumer enjoy golf, trips to the beach, home renovation projects, bonfires, and any time spent with family and friends. They share a passion for presenting God’s Word in practical ways, raising up leaders, and helping people live out their full potential in Jesus.
