Day 1: The Light in the Beginning
Scripture: John 1:1-5 NLT
In the beginning, the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God. God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.
Devotional: The opening verses of John remind us of the eternal nature of Jesus, the Word, who was with God from the beginning. His life is the source of light for all humanity, a light that darkness can never overcome. This truth offers us hope and assurance that no matter how dark our circumstances may seem, the light of Christ is always present and victorious.

Day 2: Witnessing the Light
Scripture: John 1:6-9 NLT
God sent a man, John the Baptist, to tell about the light so that everyone might believe because of his testimony. John himself was not the light; he was simply a witness to tell about the light. The one who is the true light, who gives light to everyone, was coming into the world.
Devotional: John the Baptist’s role was to prepare the way for Jesus by bearing witness to the light. His life was a testament to the coming of Christ, the true light that enlightens everyone. As followers of Jesus, we are called to be witnesses to His light, sharing the hope and truth of Christ with those around us.

Day 3: Recognizing the Light
Scripture: John 1:10-13 NLT
He came into the very world he created, but the world didn’t recognize him. He came to his own people, and even they rejected him. But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. They are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God.
Devotional: Despite being the Creator, Jesus was not recognized by the world He made. Yet, for those who believe and accept Him, He offers the incredible gift of becoming children of God. This new birth is a spiritual transformation that changes our identity and aligns us with God’s family.

Day 4: The Word Became Flesh
Scripture: John 1:14-18 NLT
So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son. John testified about him when he shouted to the crowds, “This is the one I was talking about when I said, ‘Someone is coming after me who is far greater than I am, for he existed long before me.’” From his abundance, we have all received one gracious blessing after another. For the law was given through Moses, but God’s unfailing love and faithfulness came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God. But the unique One, who is himself God, is near to the Father’s heart. He has revealed God to us.
Devotional: The incarnation of Jesus, the Word becoming flesh, is a profound mystery and a testament to God’s love for humanity. Jesus, full of grace and truth, reveals the Father’s heart to us. Through Him, we receive grace upon grace, experiencing God’s love and faithfulness in tangible ways.

Day 5: Living in the Light
Scripture: Ephesians 5:8-14 NLT
For once you were full of darkness, but now you have light from the Lord. So live as people of light! For this light within you produces only what is good and right and true. Carefully determine what pleases the Lord. Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, expose them. It is shameful even to talk about the things that ungodly people do in secret. But their evil intentions will be exposed when the light shines on them, for the light makes everything visible. This is why it is said, “Awake, O sleeper, rise up from the dead, and Christ will give you light.”
Devotional: As believers, we are called to live as people of light, reflecting the goodness, righteousness, and truth of Christ. This involves discerning what pleases the Lord and exposing darkness with the light of Christ. Living in the light transforms our actions and attitudes, aligning us with God’s will.
