GET UP! JESUS FORGIVES AND HEALS A PARALYZED MAN

MARK 2

Discuss

As we continue our New Testament study, we see Jesus’ priorities as He first forgives a man his sins and then heals him. On Sunday, we had good conversation regarding which is more important – what is on the outside of our life (how we look, dress, perform, . . .) or what is on the inside of us. We also talked about the importance of the paralyzed man’s 4 friends who had faith to bring the man to Jesus to be healed. Talk with your family regarding their “4 friends”. As each person identifies their “core 4” talk about the qualities of each of those friends that brings your family members closer to Jesus – are they encouragers, do they help you do the right thing, are they kind to others, … Also talk about ways that we can be like one of the friends and ways we can bring our friends closer to Jesus.

Weekly Challenge

Bible Connection: Jesus has the power to forgive sins and heal our mind and bodies Challenge: This week, Each family member writes down the name of one friend, classmate, or neighbor who they can pray for and encourage this week. As a family, pray for those people by name. Then, brainstorm one simple action to show Jesus’ love to them (ex: invite them to church, make a card, send an encouraging text, share a snack, etc.). Bonus Fun Twist: Grab a blanket and have family members try to carry each other across the room (safely!) to experience how the friends had to work together. Connect it back to teamwork in helping others know Jesus.
