FOLLOW THE LEADER: JESUS CALLS HIS FIRST DISCIPLES

MARK 3

Discuss

Jesus had a huge mission ahead of Him—to share God’s love and bring salvation to the world. The best way to keep that mission going after He returned to Heaven was to have disciples who would continue the work He started. Jesus began with twelve of the most unlikely Jewish men who became His first disciples. On Sunday, we talked about the qualities needed to be a committed follower of Jesus. Read Mark 3:7–19 together. Then, make a list of the qualities you believe Jesus’ first followers had. Think about the courage it took to leave everything familiar and the commitment to give up their “normal lives” to follow Him. After your list is complete, talk together about this question: Which of those same qualities are needed today to be committed followers of Jesus?
