This Christmas, we’re celebrating that Jesus is the Light! Last week, we learned that Jesus came as the light that shines into the darkness of the world. This week, we’re focusing on how that light shone brightly when the angels announced the good news of Jesus’ birth. The very first people invited to meet baby Jesus were shepherds—men who spent their days and nights outdoors, doing a job that was lonely, dirty, and often looked down on by others. But God chose them to hear the greatest news ever told. Take a moment to read Luke 2:8–10 together. Then talk about this question as a family: When have you felt lonely, left out, or not very important—just like the shepherds might have felt? How does this Christmas story remind us that God didn’t send His light only to important or famous people? By choosing the shepherds first, God showed that His love and light are for each of us—right where we are. May the light of Jesus remind you this week that you matter deeply to Him.
