A DOGGED FAITH - JESUS HEALS A GIRL WITH AN EVIL SPIRIT

MARK 7

Discuss

This week’s story helps us understand an important truth — the difference between Jews and Gentiles in Jesus’ day, and how Jesus came to show love to everyone, no matter who they were or where they came from. In Mark 7:24–29, a Gentile mother came to Jesus and begged Him to heal her daughter who had an unclean spirit. At first, Jesus’ response was surprising — He said that He was sent first to the Jews. But Jesus was testing the woman’s faith, and she didn’t give up! She showed great faith and humility, believing that Jesus had the power to heal her daughter — and He did! This story reminds us that Jesus’ love and salvation are for everyone. God doesn’t play favorites. Our challenge this week is to: Believe that God’s love and grace are for all people — even those we might think deserve it the least. Pray for those you know who are far from God. Ask that they would come to believe in Jesus as the Son of God, just like the Gentile woman did.

Weekly Challenge

Jesus showed love to someone very different from Him — the Gentile woman who believed in His power. This week, your family’s challenge is to show God’s love to someone who might feel left out or different. Think Together: Who in your world might need to know they are loved — a classmate, a neighbor, or someone new at church or school? Do Something Kind: Write them a note, invite them to play, share a treat, or find another way to include them. Talk and Pray: Afterward, talk as a family about how it felt to love like Jesus did. Then thank God for loving everyone and ask Him to help you keep showing that love all week long.
