This week’s story helps us understand an important truth — the difference between Jews and Gentiles in Jesus’ day, and how Jesus came to show love to everyone, no matter who they were or where they came from.
In Mark 7:24–29, a Gentile mother came to Jesus and begged Him to heal her daughter who had an unclean spirit. At first, Jesus’ response was surprising — He said that He was sent first to the Jews. But Jesus was testing the woman’s faith, and she didn’t give up! She showed great faith and humility, believing that Jesus had the power to heal her daughter — and He did!
This story reminds us that Jesus’ love and salvation are for everyone. God doesn’t play favorites. Our challenge this week is to:
Believe that God’s love and grace are for all people — even those we might think deserve it the least.
Pray for those you know who are far from God. Ask that they would come to believe in Jesus as the Son of God, just like the Gentile woman did.
