This week’s story of the 3 young Hebrew men presents an awesome opportunity to talk as a family about how we live “in the world but not of the world”. The Israelites were enslaved in Babylon and were presented with a no win situation where they were being forced to worship idols or they would be thrown into the fiery furnace if they refused. In GrowKids, we learned what idols were and how we are tempted to worship idols in our lives instead of worshipping and obeying God. Make a list of idols that your family is tempted to follow. Your list might include: tv, video games, celebrities, sports stars, popularity, fashion, . . . Talk about how the 3 Hebrew men obeyed God and how God saved them. Make the connection of how Jesus was the 4th man in the fire and He is always with us through the Holy Spirit.
