WHAT ISAIAH SAW

ISAIAH 1

Discuss

Isaiah is the first of 4 major prophets we will be meeting in the next 4 weeks. We learned this week that prophets are messengers from God and God gives them a message and then it is their responsibility to share that message with others. In order for Isaiah to be a prophet that God could trust to share his message, Isaiah first had to show his true heart that he wanted to be a messenger for God. That is why it was important that he bowed before God and said “Here am I send me, but I am a man of unclean lips”. God had to purify him before Isaiah could be a messenger for God. Discuss as a family: 1). What was Isaiah’s response when God asked “Who will I send? Who will go for us”? (Isaiah 6:8) 2). Can you think of a time when God asked you to do something for Him? If not, take time as a family and pray asking the Holy Spirit to show you what He would want you to do. 3). Share what your response is to what God is asking you to do – are you excited, anxious, scared, confused. Pray to have the heart of Isaiah to be a messenger of His love in your family and community.

Weekly Challenge

The angel touched Isaiah’s lips with coal and we are going to use (char)coal to design a picture to remind us of the coal God used to purify Isaiah’s lips. Supplies: paper, charcoal, hammer, baby wipes, Break charcoal into small pieces with the hammer. Have children use the charcoal to draw a six-winged angel on the paper. Use your fingers to smudge the charcoal to change the look and soften the lines of the angel. Share your angel pictures with each other.

Power Verse

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, He refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for His name's sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley; I will fear no evil for you are with me.
